We're a small, friendly team who work exceptionally hard to create yearbooks for tens of thousands of customers across the UK and beyond every year.

We're located at Tempest Photography head office, just off of the Lelant roundabout, St Ives, Cornwall. Tempest Photography is an innovative, growing business that has been offering the best in school photography for over 80 years. We have a real commitment to staff, we are part of the Healthy Workplace Initiative and you can use lunch breaks to get your steps up as you wonder around the lake at the Tempest grounds. We have an onsite canteen, which offers subsidised snacks.

Things are very relaxed here with few formalities, but we only employ the best.

Full stack JavaScript developer - Cornwall - learn serverless!

- Full-time, 8.15am-4.15pm Monday to Friday (37.5h)

AllYearbooks is seeking a full-stack JavaScript developer at any level of experience.

We're based in St Ives, Cornwall, close to some of the best beaches in the UK and next to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Excellent public transport links are available along with a free company bus service, onsite car parking space is also provided.

Our new developer will be working extensively with full-stack JavaScript - the core of our business is an industry-leading isomorphic JavaScript application, and we are beginning a move towards a serverless architecture with Google Cloud Functions (Node.js).

We're looking for experience with any of the following, and are happy to provide training where needed:

  • at least intermediate JavaScript knowledge (client-side or Node, with awareness of modern JavaScript with Promises)
  • Linux (Ubuntu Server) with command line shell interaction
  • front-end build automation (our build chain includes npm scripts, PostCSS and Babel)
  • PHP
  • HTML and CSS
  • MySQL or equivalent relational database management system
  • web security
  • git version control
  • JavaScript unit testing (Jest or equivalent)
  • selenium browser automation testing
  • awareness of front-end reactive rendering architecture (React, Flux, Redux)
  • awareness of single-page application architecture

We operate with a small, agile and proactive team, with everyone contributing to multiple aspects of the business. You'll have the opportunity to be given significant responsibility and oversight over key aspects of a market-leading web application.

We don't require experience with our specific tools and can give time for training for anyone with similar skillsets (CSS with Sass / Less pre-processors, gulp / grunt task runners, TypeScript, Python, Go, PostgreSQL DBMS, any TDD / testing tools).

Graphic designer

- Both temporary full-time and flexible-hours positions available
- Up to full-time (37.5h per week, 8.15am-4.15pm Monday to Friday)

You'll be primarily using Photoshop to design custom covers and other artwork for school and university yearbooks in a fast paced environment during our seasonal busy period. You'll be working in our seasonal design team, located near the coast within the Tempest grounds near the beautiful St Ives. How you get on and fit in with the rest of the team is hugely important to us.

Your main duties will be...

  • Creating stunning yearbook covers for individual customers based on their thoughts and ideas.
  • Liaising with customers via online messages to help them get the very best covers.
  • Creating other custom artwork for customers where necessary.

You will be...

  • Highly skilled with Photoshop.
  • Able to quickly work with existing templates to create custom designs.
  • At least reasonably comfortable working with existing Illustrator files.
  • Excellent with your attention to detail.
  • Strong with IT skills and capable of learning new systems quickly and being able to manage your workflow across multiple windows and tabs.

Customer support (Yearbook coordinator)

Our customers often need a lot of hand-holding and soothing. You should be happy on the phone and amazing at writing friendly, to-the-point emails. You're also very technically savvy as you'll be using our online yearbook system all the time.

You'll be joining our new small customer support team, located near the coast within the Tempest grounds near the beautiful St Ives. How you get on and fit in with the rest of the team is hugely important to us. You'll be expected to carve out a niche for yourself in the office, working well with the rest of the team but full of your own ideas too.

Your main duties will be...

  • Interacting with customers on the phone, by email and online chat, guiding them from their initial enquiry to setting up their project.
  • Overseeing the design and progression of online projects, offering advice and guidance to editing teams from creation to print.
  • Maintaining up to date and accurate information on records within the CRM.
  • Providing regular feedback to the developers to ensure developments continue to reflect customers’ needs.
  • Working closely with the rest of the team to produce and distribute marketing samples.
  • Making outbound calls both to progress existing and secure prospective customers.

You will be...

  • Able to work in a busy environment with focus, ensuring tasks are completed methodically and accurately.
  • Comfortable on the phone, dealing with both inbound and outbound calls.
  • Confident dealing with customers ranging from GCSE students to Heads of School and finance managers.
  • Excellent with your attention to detail, with a keen eye for design.
  • Well experienced with a strong customer support background.
  • Strong with IT skills and capable of learning new systems quickly and being able to manage your workflow across multiple windows and tabs.
